Enhance Your Beauty With an Eyebrow Transplant

Because the eyebrows are an important facial feature for expression and beauty, having sparse, overplucked, or misshapen eyebrows is a very common problem for many women. Whereas some turn to temporary solutions such as makeup or cosmetic tattooing, others prefer a more permanent and natural looking treatment—an eyebrow transplant.

What to expect from an eyebrow transplant

Women who decide to undergo an eyebrow transplant should be aware that it can be a lengthy process. Patience is required. It can take several months for the new hair follicles to grow.

A few weeks after your eyebrow transplant, you will begin to see the transplanted hairs fall out. Don’t be alarmed—this is normal. The new brow hairs should begin growing over the next several months. Some patients need to trim the transplanted hairs during this waiting period.

Patients typically see full results from an eyebrow transplant at the 9-month mark.

What is an eyebrow transplant?

An eyebrow transplant is a hair restoration procedure that takes hair from either the back of the scalp or the back of the neck and transplants it to the eyebrows to achieve fuller, natural looking eyebrows. The entire hair follicle is removed to ensure new hair growth over the course of a few months.

What causes thining eyebrows?

Many women struggle with their eyebrows. Patchy, sparse, thin, or asymmetrical brows is most commonly the result of overplucking, but other causes include hormone changes, thyroid conditions, and aging.

Some women choose to have cosmetic tattooing done to hide their lack of eyebrows, but this method is high maintenance, uncomfortable, and inconvenient, as tattooing requires indefinite multiple sessions as the tattoo ink fades. An eyebrow transplant can cover a cosmetic tattoo.

How does the procedure work?

One of the best things about an eyebrow transplant is that it is very natural looking, because the transplanted hairs are your own. The hair follicles are removed from either the back of your neck, the back of your scalp, or just above your ears.

When you arrive for your appointment, you will be numbed to help with any discomfort. Dr. Ching will make small incisions at the follicle donor site, as well as at the sites of transplantation in your brows. One hair is removed at a time and planted where needed. The entire process takes anywhere from 2 to 5 hours.

An eyebrow transplant requires an experienced surgeon who has the artistic eye to provide the right shape and arch. Our eyebrows naturally “point” in different directions, and an excellent eyebrow surgeon understands this and knows how to transplant the hairs to mimic this natural flow.
