What causes hair loss?
Contrary to common belief, hair loss isn’t caused by a failure to take care of your hair. In actuality, premature baldness is caused by genetics. Hair follicles are genetically coded at birth, and unfortunately, once they begin shrinking in adulthood, they will continue to shrink throughout your lifetime.
How does Dr. Ching treat hair loss?
We use a variety of excellent hair loss treatments, including the ARTAS® Robotic hair transplant procedure, FUE hair transplant surgery, Propecia®, Rogaine®, laser hair restoration, and non-surgical hair replacement.
Does Dr. Ching treat both men and women?
Yes. Due to factors including stress, hormones, certain diseases and medications, poor nutrition, trauma, and female pattern baldness, 30% of all women will experience significant hair loss at some point in their life. Dr. Ching is happy to treat female patients as well as men to restore confidence and quality of life.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments needed will depend on the patient, the unique areas of concern, severity of hair loss, and the treatment that is used.
What kind of results will I get?
When it comes to hair transplants, results will depend on the area being treated and how many follicular units are transplanted. Immediately following the procedure, the newly-transplanted hairs are tiny and will require some time to “heal” and kickstart their growth. The new hair will start out very soft, and will eventually become stronger and thicker. The average patient will typically have new hair growth and density around the nine-month mark.
For non-transplant procedures, the density of the already-existing hair will improve. For some areas, the follicles that were nearly dead will come to life again and start growing new hair. But for areas where the scalp is smooth, most treatments won’t do much.
Will it be obvious that I’ve had hair loss treatment?
Dr. Ching and his team are proud to achieve results that appear healthy and natural. As a highly-awarded plastic surgeon specializing in hair restoration, it is important to Dr. Ching and his team to provide only the best looking outcome for patients that are significant yet subtle.
Do you offer financing?
Yes. Financing for hair restoration is available on approved credit. We work with two leading providers of elective medical financing: Carecredit and myMedicalLoan. Their plans provide a convenient way to finance your hair restoration procedure and to assist with managing your out-of-pocket expenses. The payments you make will vary based on the amount you finance and the terms of your loan.
